Reporting based on information from the New York Post
Lionel Messi’s World Cup run ended in heartbreak on Sunday, with Spain edging Argentina 1-0 in extra time to claim the title. But according to the New York Post, the soccer star can still claim a win off the pitch: his real estate instincts in Miami are paying off.
The Post reports that Messi purchased four units at Cipriani Residences Miami in the spring of 2025. That move is now looking like sharp timing. The Brickell skyscraper has since topped off construction and passed the 80% sold threshold, with completion slated for summer 2027.
A Ripple Effect Among Buyers
The Post reports that Messi’s purchase appears to have set off a chain reaction. Several Argentine soccer players have since bought into the building. The buyer pool has also expanded with finance and tech executives relocating from New York and California, including people connected to Citadel and Amazon, according to sources cited by the outlet.
Per the Post’s reporting, buyers from those two states currently lead sales at the tower. International interest is substantial too, with purchasers coming from more than 30 countries. The report lists Mexico, Italy, Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina, Canada, France, Spain, and the United Kingdom as the top international markets.
Developer Mast Capital declined to confirm specific buyers’ identities, citing its privacy policy, the Post noted.
From Groundbreaking to Nearly Finished
When Messi bought in, he paid roughly $7.5 million for a four bedroom, 3,500 square foot unit. At the time, the tower was still under construction with a projected 2028 completion. Now, having reached its full height of about 950 feet, the building is on track to become the tallest residential tower south of New York City. The timeline has also moved up by a year, with move ins now expected next summer.
What the Building Offers
The 397 unit project marks the Cipriani family’s first ground up residential development in North America. Per the Post, amenities will span more than 50,000 square feet, including a 37th floor speakeasy with Biscayne Bay views, a resort style pool deck, a spa, a private screening room, and dining tied to the Cipriani family’s hospitality history dating back to Harry’s Bar in Venice.
Giuseppe Cipriani told the Post his family has spent nearly a century welcoming people from around the world with the same philosophy of creating places where elegance, service, and hospitality come naturally. He said he’s excited to see that spirit continue through this project.
Mast Capital CEO Camilo Miguel Jr. told the outlet that reaching full height reflects Miami’s growing status as a premier luxury real estate market. Moss Construction CEO Scott Moss noted that topping off brings buyers closer to actually taking ownership of their new homes.
Pricing and Design
The tower was designed by Arquitectonica, with interiors by 1508 London. According to the Post, unit prices start at $1.8 million, while the building’s Canaletto Collection begins at $4.1 million. Fortune Development Sales is handling sales and marketing.
