LANDMARKS
The neighborhood’s architecture is truly one-of-a-kind: townhouses and older, preserved buildings rule the skyline. Over half of the West Village has been designated a landmark, in efforts to preserve the very architecture that renders the area one of the most desirable residential neighborhoods in the city
Amongst other defining aspects of the area: “off the grid” streets that have been set up according to an 18th century grid plan, giving rise to roads that are set at a different angle compared to other streets in Manhattan.
