OVERVIEW
Forte dei Marmi is a sea town near the province of Lucca, within the central region of Tuscany. A major tourist attraction during the summer, the town’s population nearly triples throughout the warmer months.
LANDMARKS
Forte dei Marmi literally means “fort of the marbles,” a name that alludes to the fortress that was built back in 1788 in the middle of the main square. The sight is now a museum dedicated to satirical art.
ART
Many famous artists take residence here during the summer months and have come to regard the town as a major part of their childhood. These include Zucchero, a famous Italian rock singer; Andrea Bocelli, one of the world’s most renowned tenors, and British writer Aldous Huxley.

Given the amount of wealthy people that travel to the town during the summer, Forte dei Marmi’s shopping scene is defined by the presence of a variety of high-end, luxurious, designer boutiques. Prada and Gucci are only two of the many stores found here.
NIGHTLIFE
The town’s nightlife also caters to the numerous tourists visiting Forte dei Marmi throughout the summer. Popular nightlife destinations include La Capannina, Bussola and Twiga Beach Club.
TRANSPORTATION
Within the town, everyone travels by foot or bike. Access to transportation that will lead outside of the town is dependent upon both bus and train routes that connect to major cities that are nearby.
