OVERVIEW
The Financial District (FiDI) can be found at the tip of Manhattan. Spanning from Chambers Street on the North all the way down to Battery Park on the South and from South Street on the East to South End Avenue on the West, the neighborhood is one of the oldest on the island.
LANDMARKS
The Financial District is defined by Wall Street, the epicenter of the world’s stock market, and its proximity to One World Trade Center, built after the collapse of the Twin Towers.
Other major financial institutions in the area include the New York Stock Exchange, the world’s largest stock exchange, and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, one of the twelve Federal Reserve Banks of the United States.
ART
The 9/11 Memorial Museum is, undoubtedly, the area’s major cultural attraction. Commemorating the 2001 terrorist attacks, the memorial is one of the most popular destinations across the entire city.

SHOPPING
Not a busy shopping destination, the Financial District is nonetheless home to Century 21, a major department store, and is slowly attracting a variety of luxury businesses (think Rolex, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Burberry), mostly aided by the opening of nearby Brookfield Place.
DINING
Most dining destinations in the area cater to the high volume of office employees that invade the streets throughout the week. Although many travel to neighboring Tribeca when searching for upscale dining options, popular lunch destinations in FiDi include Just Salad and Chop’t.
TRANSPORTATION
Given its importance to both the city’s financial well-being and its worldly recognition, the Financial District is readily accessible by subway (A, C, E, J, R, W, Z, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6) It is also accessible by the New Jersey PATH train and Staten Island Ferry.
